Getting to the Altoona Ridge Lodge is part of the adventure. In the winter (mid November through the end of June) you can ski in or snowmobile. In the summer and fall (July through November) you can drive all the way depending on the weather.
Winter: Drive in 5 miles from Hwy 1 to the Princeton snowmobile put in. Starting from the Princeton parking lot it is 5 miles to the Lodge. The first 3 miles are relatively flat, gaining 500 feet of elevation, the last 2 miles gain 1500 feet. Most people make the trip in about 3 hours.
Summer and Fall the drive in from Scenic MT Hwy 1 is 10 miles and gains 2500 feet. The last 2 miles are rather rough and demand a 4x4 and good driving.
