The terrain around the Lodge is wilderness. The ground can be uneven ,and natural. We have worked very hard to have as minimal an impact on the area as possible. Scars left by the miners over the years are a testament to how fragile the Earth is, how long a mark will last, and how slowly the environment at 8000’ recuperates from such activities.
It is very important to be very conscious about your fitness and health when coming to the Lodge. Remember that it is a long way to where help is available. It is very dry in Montana and even more so at this elevation. You will be participating in activities that will occur at and above 8000’ altitude where the air is thinner. It is best to be prepared for this and take the time before getting here to hydrate well and stretch daily. Establishing a daily fitness routine can be very beneficial to making your stay even better.
What to bring – Please see downloadable and printable list on our Trip Details page
