The Altoona Ridge Lodge provides the ultimate, authentic, American experience involving a unique and original blend of accommodations and activities in the Big Sky Country. We offer a variety of trips and amenities designed to give you a relaxing and invigorating getaway from the humdrum of everyday life. The Altoona Ridge Lodge is located on a mountain ridge line, 7600 feet above sea level, with unobstructed views of up to 120 miles and thousands of acres of untouched nature to explore. At night, a panorama of stars unpolluted by city lights blankets the sky above.

You can chose from a variety of packages, from SELF GUIDED TRIPS to FULLY INCLUSIVE BACKCOUNTRY EXPERIENCES, with your own personal guide. Your guide is your personal Sherpa, carrying delicious lunches of French cheese, salami, and a fresh baguette from the local bakeries to the top of the mountain for you enjoyment. Our GUIDES AND HOSTS live by their stomachs first, and you will never go hungry up here. Start your mornings with hot, strong coffee, and end your nights with a trip to our sauna that runs year-round, heating you up with a vast view of nature from within.

COME HIBERNATE IN THE BEAR DEN:

Welcome to the Bear Den, the newest bunkhouse building at Altoona.

A wood stove warms the Den and you'll sleep cozy no matter how cold it is outside. Walk on an elevated walkway, directly to the Lupine porch and into the dining area.

After an epic ski day and a hot sauna, the Bear Den will be calling your name.
In the winter, we are blanketed in feet of deep fresh Rocky Mountain powder snow, a true gift of nature. Our winter mountain activities include skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in the crisp air. In the spring, our days are long and warm, and we receive some of our largest snow falls during this time. Come and check out the corn snow and couloirs with easy access from the ridge lines during THE CORN SNOW SKI FESTIVAL.

Montana summers offer dry days that seem to last forever, and cool summer nights that offer relaxation and great nights' sleep. The Altoona Lakes are a mile walk away, where you can swim in a pristine, high alpine lake and fish for Cut Throat Trout. In the fall, we open our doors to HUNTERS, first for archery season and then for rifle season. The Lodge sits in the middle of timbered National Forest Land that is home to some of the best hunting in the state. From our door step you can see Elk, Deer, Moose, Bear, and Upland Birds. A sportsman's paradise, we offer some of the most adventurous and fulfilling hunting available in Montana.

To check the availability of the Altoona Ridge Lodge, book your getaway, or simply to ask more about how we may make your next escape extraordinary, please contact us with your name and contact information and our Event Coordinator will be in touch with to create your custom Altoona Ridge Lodge experience. In an effort to make every trip to the lodge as exclusive as possible, we do not book parties together. Every trip is unique, and the activities and accommodations are tailored specifically to you. The lodge is purposefully kept small and intimate. The Altoona Ridge Lodge can accommodate up to 8 people at a time.

Highlights included multiple saunas with a few rolls in the snow. Two great bonfires. FANTASTIC food, great views, snowshoeing, rum and dice games, star gazing deck lounging, couch lounging, fish tales, joke telling, making great friends, and deepening existing friendships,"
